About the Opportunity
IntelliStaff’s client is seeking an experienced Retail / Store Manager to oversee operations at a major building supply and hardware retail location in Winnipeg, while supporting logistics, training, and supply chain coordination for northern operations in Nunavut.
This role is ideal for a results-driven retail leader who understands building materials, contractor support, inventory management, and team development. You will play a key role in connecting southern supply operations with northern construction and trades teams.
This position is based in Winnipeg, with travel to Nunavut as required.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily retail operations including staffing, merchandising, and inventory control
- Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing retail team
- Manage ordering, logistics, and supply coordination between Winnipeg and Nunavut locations
- Support contractor desk operations with guidance on building materials and product applications
- Track store performance, manage budgets, and prepare financial reports
- Collaborate with northern operations teams to align retail supply with field construction needs
- Develop and implement training programs for staff and northern trainees
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of retail management experience, preferably in building supply, hardware, or construction-related retail
- Strong knowledge of building materials, tools, and contractor requirements
- Proven leadership and team development experience
- Experience managing budgets, vendor relationships, and inventory systems
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Previous northern or logistics experience is considered an asset
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada without sponsorship
Compensation and Benefits
- Salary: $90,000 to $100,000 annually based on experience
