About the Opportunity
IntelliStaff’s client is seeking an experienced Oil Burner Technician to support residential, commercial, and institutional properties across Nunavut.
This role is ideal for a licensed tradesperson who enjoys hands-on mechanical work, values steady hours, and is open to working in a northern environment where your skills are genuinely needed. You will be responsible for installing, servicing, troubleshooting, and maintaining oil-fired heating systems in communities where reliable heat is not optional; it is essential.

Key Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and repair oil-fired heating systems, burners, and associated controls
- Diagnose and troubleshoot heating system issues
- Perform preventative maintenance and inspections
- Maintain compliance with all safety and environmental regulations
- Collaborate with plumbing, electrical, and carpentry trades as required
- Complete service records and work orders accurately and on time
- Support operations in multiple Nunavut communities as required
Required Qualifications
- Valid Oil Burner Mechanic Certification (OBT1 or equivalent Red Seal designation)
- Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience servicing oil-fired heating systems (residential and/or commercial)
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to work independently in remote and cold-climate environments
- Valid driver’s licence
- Previous northern or rotational experience is an asset
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada without sponsorship
Compensation and Benefits
- Hourly rate: $45 to $60 per hour depending on experience
- Allowances: Northern living allowance and food allowance
- Housing: Shared company-owned accommodation available (approximately $500 per month)
- Travel: Two paid return flights annually between Nunavut and Winnipeg
- Relocation support: Shipment of up to 500 lbs of personal belongings
