About the Role
We’re building a standby roster of experienced Database Administrators (DBAs) to support critical government and enterprise systems across Nunavut. Projects may involve database modernization, performance optimization, data integrity reviews, migrations, and ongoing production support. Some contracts are fully on-site; others offer remote or hybrid flexibility depending on system access and project phase.
What You’ll Do
- Install, configure, and maintain SQL Server, Oracle, or other enterprise database environments
- Monitor performance; tuning queries, indexing strategies, and resource optimization
- Manage backups, restores, disaster recovery planning, and high-availability configurations
- Support data migrations; upgrades; and system integrations
- Implement security best practices; access controls, encryption, auditing
- Troubleshoot production issues quickly; because downtime in remote regions is not ideal
Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
- 5+ years experience as a Database Administrator or Data Administrator
- Strong expertise in SQL performance tuning and database optimization
- Experience with backup strategies, disaster recovery, and business continuity planning
- Familiarity with government or public-sector systems preferred
- Certifications are an asset; Microsoft, Oracle, AWS, or other database platforms
