Position Overview
The Communications Specialist supports IM/IT initiatives through strategic communications, branding, and professional media development. This role focuses on translating complex technical work into clear, engaging, and visually compelling communications for diverse internal and external audiences.
Image and Branding Marketing Development
- Design and refine visual identity, messaging, and branding materials for IM/IT initiatives
- Ensure communications align with organizational standards and strategic objectives
- Create marketing and promotional assets for internal and public-facing use
Media Development
- Plan, produce, and edit professional video content
- Capture and manage b-roll footage and photography
- Develop and maintain a digital media asset library for reuse across projects
Communication Strategy Development
- Develop targeted communication strategies and plans for IM/IT initiatives
- Ensure consistent messaging across platforms, teams, and stakeholder groups
- Provide strategic communications advice for technology and change initiatives
Professional Presentation Development
- Create high-quality presentations, briefing notes, and visual reports
- Tailor communication products for executives, technical teams, and non-technical audiences
- Support leadership with materials that enable informed decision-making
Qualifications and Experience
- Post-secondary education in Communications, Marketing, Media Studies, Graphic Design, or a related field; or equivalent experience
- Demonstrated experience in communications strategy, branding, and content development
- Strong presentation design and visual storytelling skills
- Experience producing and editing video and digital media assets
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders
Technical Skills
- Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop)
- Presentation tools such as PowerPoint or Google Slides
- Video editing software (Premiere Pro, Final Cut, DaVinci Resolve, or similar)
- Basic motion graphics or accessibility standards knowledge is an asset
Assets (Nice to Have)
- Experience supporting IM/IT, digital transformation, or technology-focused initiatives
- Experience with executive or senior leadership communications
- Background working in structured or regulated environments
